How do you do a substitution jutsu?

I can't seem to do a substitution jutsu even though I'm pressing the R2 button when attacked. What's an easy way to do this?

This didn't help me do a substitution jutsu and i can do it i just can't figure out how. Can you please explain how to do it exactly?

Well I believe its kinda like skill cuz my cousin at first didnt know how to do it even though I explained him a lot of times: Just press R2 and L2 when you're getting attacked, but after he fought me some times he did substitution and I wondered why I ever explained to him how to do it lol

don't press l2 and r2 at the same time.if he is hitting from the left press r2 and if he is attacking you fromt the right press r2.capish?understand?

You can try that or...maybe it's your controller...maybe try buying a new one... =-_-=
